Antecedent Compression — Part IV
The Archive's 22
This is the Archive's official ledger. The Archive insists it is complete. It is not. One Glyph was never eligible for it at all — it is not Antecedent work.
KURRIN
Recurrence Mistaken as Stability"The pattern repeats. You call this proof. It is not."
Lore
The most fundamental error in cognition — assuming that because something has always happened, it will continue to happen. The Archive built their entire doctrine on this principle. The Severed consider it the Lattice's most elegant trap.
Gameplay
Pulse weapon. Primary fire repeats in rhythmic bursts that strengthen each cycle — but the cycle eventually destabilizes and resets.
VAELUTH
Split Perception"You are seeing two things. You believe you are seeing one."
Lore
Encodes irreducible duality — every observation contains a second observation that contradicts it. The Interpreters consider VAELUTH their founding Glyph.
Gameplay
Twin-fire. Projectiles split into two paths that converge at a set distance, dealing devastating focused damage at the convergence point.
TSHAR
Structured Collapse"The structure held until it was observed to be holding."
Lore
The paradox of stability — confirming a system is stable introduces the first instability. The Archive uses it defensively; the Severed weaponize it.
Gameplay
Charged detonation. Attaches to an enemy, builds damage over time — held too long, it stabilizes and dissipates harmlessly.
ORIXH
False Equivalence"They are not the same. You need them to be."
Lore
Treating different things as identical because it simplifies your model. Every faction war begins with an ORIXH error.
Gameplay
Mimic rounds — adopt the visual signature of the last enemy type destroyed. Ineffective against enemy types not yet fought.
SUUNEL
Gradual Deviation"You did not change. Each moment simply failed to be the previous one."
Lore
The Glyph of drift — slow, unnoticed divergence that accumulates until the original is unrecoverable.
Gameplay
Drift beam. Continuous-fire weapon that slowly rotates its angle — the player influences, not directly aims, its drift.
DRAAV
Observer Dependence"It was not there until you needed it to be."
Lore
Observation creates what is observed — literally, in the Lattice's grammar. The Rift-Born may be a DRAAV expression.
Gameplay
Proximity mines invisible to enemies until the player looks away — rewards peripheral awareness.
QELTHYR
Artificial Order"The system works. It was not designed to."
Lore
Emergent order mistaken for design. Troubles the Archive — it implies their "correct" state might be accidental.
Gameplay
Auto-turret with algorithmic targeting the player can't directly control — emergent from wave composition.
MIIRAK
Interrupted Continuity"You are the same person you were before. No you are not."
Lore
Identity disruption — a continuous process interrupted, resuming as something else. Every Remnant is a MIIRAK event.
Gameplay
Blink teleport leaving a damage echo at the origin point — rewards aggressive repositioning.
HAARUN
Layered Truth"The first answer is correct. The second answer is also correct. They cannot both be correct."
Lore
The purest expression of the Veil Theorem — truth is stratified, and accessing one layer obscures another.
Gameplay
Phase shield. Absorbs one damage type at a time into a secondary weapon charge — switching types resets it.
THUUREN
Containment Failure"The boundary held. The boundary was the problem."
Lore
The catastrophe of successful containment. The Severed point to it as evidence all structure eventually destroys itself.
Gameplay
Overcharge mechanic — release at the right moment for area damage; hold too long and containment fails on you.
ELYX
Incomplete Presence"You are here. Not all of you."
Lore
Existing without full commitment. Remnants exhibit permanent ELYX state — why no faction can fully claim them.
Gameplay
Phasing — partial transparency, reducing both incoming and outgoing damage. Rewards patience and timing.
SHOLUUN
Reinforced Assumption"You checked. It confirmed what you expected. You did not check what it means that it confirmed what you expected."
Lore
Confirmation bias as literal structural force — regions observed with expectation begin conforming to it.
Gameplay
Lock-on amplifier — sustained fire increases damage as the weapon "confirms" its target; switching resets the bonus.
VRAXHI
Forced Alignment"It fits. You made it fit. It did not want to fit."
Lore
The violence of forced coherence. The Archive's restoration process is fundamentally a VRAXHI operation.
Gameplay
Gravity lance — pulls enemies toward a focal point, forcing collision damage between them.
EKHAREN
Compressed Meaning"This contains everything. You cannot access everything. You can access this."
Lore
The Glyph that most closely describes the Glyphs themselves — encoding vast meaning into minimal form.
Gameplay
Burst charge — a single compressed projectile that expands on impact into a radial burst.
OTHRAEL
Partitioned Reality"This region operates under different rules. You brought the old rules with you. They will not help."
Lore
Local conditions can operate under grammars that contradict the broader Lattice. Every biome is an OTHRAEL event.
Gameplay
Adaptive shielding — shifts properties based on the current biome, stronger where it matches equipped Glyphs.
KHELT
Mutual Contradiction"Both are true. Both negate each other. Both persist."
Lore
Persistent paradox — states that cannot coexist but refuse to resolve. The Rift-Born may be KHELT entities.
Gameplay
Duality fire — two weapon systems, instant switch, one excels vs. armor, the other vs. swarm.
NAARUUN
Aborted Intention"It was going to become something. It did not. It is still going."
Lore
Unrealized potential that persists as a force. The Drifter may be a NAARUUN entity.
Gameplay
Unfinished projectile — passes through enemies dealing partial damage across an entire wave, cannot kill alone.
VORATHUN
Imposed Structure"Order was applied. Order was not requested."
Lore
The most politically charged Glyph — directly describes what the Archive does. Same Glyph, opposite meanings depending who reads it.
Gameplay
Structure field — deploys a zone slowing all movement within it, enemies and player alike.
THAELOR
Binary Collapse"There were two options. Now there is one. The other did not disappear. It was consumed."
Lore
The violence of resolution — ambiguity destroyed as a single interpretation survives by consuming its alternatives.
Gameplay
Execution strike — massive damage below a health threshold; does nothing if the threshold isn't met.
XHOTHAI
Simplified Truth"It is more than this. You will never use more than this."
Lore
The pragmatics of survival — a simplified working model beats a complete but incomprehensible truth.
Gameplay
Efficiency amplifier — removes secondary effects for significantly higher base damage.
RIELSHA
Becoming Without Origin"It is new. It has no source. It insists it has always been here."
Lore
Spontaneous existence — things appearing fully formed with no causal chain. Remnants are RIELSHA events.
Gameplay
Spawn drone — a temporary autonomous ally with a randomized, origin-less weapon type.
VAEXHUL
Return Without Memory"You have been here before. You do not know this. It does not matter."
Lore
The final catalogued Glyph — recurrence without recognition. You are not a person returning. You are a question being asked again.
Gameplay
Rebirth mechanic — a chance to re-emerge from the nearest Drift Node with partial health, without memory of the prior loadout.
[ UNRESOLVED ]
Named only at the end of a runNot catalogued here. Not catalogued anywhere. Its identity is authored by whoever finishes it. It was never eligible for the ledger at all — it is not Antecedent work.
